And, with me, it's not so much a point of offending others. The "swear" part just mostly rhymes with "prayer". :) My big thing is that there is a whole lot of God going around, and there are lots of different interpretations of what "god" is. It's confusing the issue. A comic on Comedy Central last night said that, "Any time Republicans are in office, you see 'sodomy' in the headlines." And it's true. We are not combating mores. We are trying to subdue what some would see as an iminent threat. What does that have to do with religion? Why are we trying to fast and pray over this? The issues are being confused. Which is why there is still a glaring need for separation of church and state. We cannot be embroiled in a holy war. It might be one from some people's perspectives, but we have to act secularly. If we start to drag god into this, we are on the path of no return. The path the Middle East cannot, after centuries seem to find its way through, and a path which has caused some zealots to kill several thousand people in our country over. We have to say, ok...god is here...and we are there. The two just don't mix.
